Toward a Closer Walk

Living a Life of Revival

This past week we celebrated the inauguration of our 46th President-President Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. President Joe Biden called for an "America United.” In order for that to truly become a reality there is need for a revival of a godly spirit of love for mankind that would transcend all other wants in our nation.

A favorite author of mine wrote these words many years ago: The greatest want of the world is the want of men – men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.

Ellen White, Education, p 573

God has outlined a plan – principles to live by. These principles are outlined in the Bible which if followed would result in people being unified under the banner of the almighty which alone would bring the peace and safety we all desire.

We need a “Spiritual Revival” in our individual lives which would bring us into harmony with God’s desired divine plan for mankind. Our homes, churches, communities, nation, and world would take on a different focus and true peace would take the place of the serious unrest we have in the world today.

Those of us who have accepted Christ need to press forward, “Living a Life of Revival.” This, if fed or nourished by our daily seeking Jesus through Prayer, Bible Study, and Witnessing to others would result in a whole different attitude in people and government. In short this would be, Living a Life of Revival. We would be “Walking With Jesus.” Paul tells us that we should “…present [our] your [body] bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable to God, which is [my] your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1 brackets and italics are mine to personalize the text)

Lord God, help us each to seek continual revival because we desire to grow in our relationship with you and mankind. Please, give us an appreciation for the specialness of our freedom of religion and the opportunity to share our faith with whomever you send us to. Take away the ungodly things which divide us and help me/us to be a positive influence of peace and oneness in our nation. Teach us to “Walk With You.” In Jesus Name, Amen
