Earlier this week a friend shared a picture with me of all the people waiting in their cars to receive help with food from the San Antonio Food Bank. 1000’s are in need. As the lockdown continues the need will increase.
It is important during this time to remember a special promise of God to Joshua, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NKJV)
Joshua was now the new leader of the Israelites. They were preparing to cross the Jordan and enter the land of Canaan which God had promised to Abraham and his lineage. He was unsure of himself and the people were unsettled with new leadership and the semi unknown they would find on the other side of the Jordan River.
I know that our “Jordan” is the uncertainty of what will happen to us tomorrow: further closures, running a fever, let go from work, empty refrigerator, fear of what will happen as things begin to open up. Remember what God has said, “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid … for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Dear God, Thank you for your promise to me today. Please help me to have the courage to trust you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
